Hello, I’m Captain Daniel Snapp and I hold a Master's United States Coast Guard License and am fully insured. I have lived in Panama City for over 55 years and grew up fishing the local waters. When I was younger I began fishing many of the ponds, lakes and bays until my teenage years where I discovered snorkeling, diving and spearfishing. My love of being in the water with the fish gave me a unique insight into their behavior, ultimately making me a better angler. I went on to work in the local dive and fishing industry until choosing to pursue a career in the fire service. In 1986, I began working at the Panama City Fire Department as a Professional Firefighter and as of June 1, 2018 I retired as a Battalion Chief after 32 years of service. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science and held an Instructor III certification through the Florida State Fire College. I taught Fire Fighting Standards through Gulf Coast State College for over 15 years and was the Division Chief of Training, Fire Prevention, and Public Education with the Panama City Fire Department for several years. My experience with training literally hundreds of Firefighters and members of the public in fire safety directly translates into my abilities and passion to instruct someone with limited or no experience with tackle or fishing techniques. This one-on-one attention will quickly make the beginner or experienced angler more proficient and confident with gear and fishing methods that they take away with them and can apply on their own!
In addition, I have appeared on several fishing and outdoor shows to discuss our local fishery and events that impact our area. I have written fishing reports for Coastal Angler Magazine, Fishhound.com as well as Bay County Outdoors and Capmel.com. In the past, I participated in several redfish organizations competing in tournaments hosted by FLW, IFA and the Emerald Coast Redfish Circuit. Furthermore, I am also a member of the IFFF (International Federation of Fly Fishers) and the IFFF Guides Association.
I am also proud to be on the Professional Guide Programs and/or a Pro-Staffer for the following companies and manufactures: East Cape Skiffs, Simple Skiffs, Z-Man, Simms, Sitka, Super Fly Composites, Skinny Water Culture, St. Croix, Sage, Smith Optics, Seaguar, Lee Fisher Nets, and Ohero.
Never far from the water, I am offering visiting anglers the opportunity to charter a day on the water and share my love of fishing and the outdoors. On a Grassy Flats Charter you will experience a one of a kind fishing adventure that combines unparalleled professionalism with top of the line equipment all at a fantastic value.
There are many methods of catching fish, however, I specialize in sight fishing where the targeted species is quietly hunted in the crystal clear shallows of our bay systems or in our beautiful emerald green waters just off the beach. In either case, you are able to see the fish before you ever make your first cast, experiencing both the thrill of stalking the fish and watching as it takes the bait. Sight fishing will provide you with an experience and level of excitement unmatched by all other fishing methods! I have logged thousands of hours in search of fish over the years and my experience in these waters will allow you the absolute best opportunity to get as close as possible to make that perfect cast.
You can trust that when booking with Grassy Flats Charters you are securing a day on the water with a Professional Fishing Guide and Outdoorsman that prides himself in providing nothing less than a great experience on the water. I will do everything within my ability to ensure that you are completely satisfied with my services.
